Of Wags, Tails, and Dogs

Moliere famously said “Writing is like prostitution. First you do it for love, and then for a few close friends, and then for money.”

This blog certainly hasn't made any money, nor has there been any attempt to make money from it. I do hope it has made some friends. What it has done, for sure, is become the tail that wags the dog. And that isn't a good thing.

So I've decided to take some time off to work on some other projects.

Take care, I'll see you down the road.

  2. Well, I sure know what you mean -- I've just barely been managing to post with no time to blog visit. But I'll look for you when you get back!

  4. Jim, I have been so busy lately that I hadn't kept up with reading your blog and the few others that I visit regularly. I came back to find a lapse of several days in posts before I read the message. I understand about needing to take some time off. Those of us who look forward to your diligent and daily posts will miss you. I just took time off without the courtesy of a message.

  5. I know the feeling of being controlled by the blog. I will dearly miss this, but understand totally. Please stay in touch and thanks for all I have learned. Enjoy your time off, Jim!

  6. Enjoy whatever you’re doing.
I know about the tail and the dog. I was doing some revision on my memoir today and cursing myself for the fool I am: getting distracted with blogging!

  7. I've always made myself a promise, that if the bloggy thing becomes a chore, then I would close up shop...
Hopefully, you'll get more time now that Winter is just around the corner, and outside chores are put on hold.
I couldn't help but smile, at your sweet comment today ;)
    Be well friend !

  8. You are allowed a little time off - but not too long. Here is one friend who thoroughly enjoys your blog and would miss it very much if it went away too long.

  9. Hey, Jim, I'm still in the hospital with knee replacement surgery and will be moving to a rehab center next. I can receive emails but can't send them... let's see how this works.

the third or fourth week in June would be my choice... I hope to be back home within a week and we can make plans...

  10. Man, did everyone decide to quit blogging when I wasn't paying attention?? I'm sorry to see you give it up, but I do understand. It took everything I could do to keep writing this fall; now, with winter coming, I see some time for reflection again and it feels good. Your readers will be here waiting when you have time once again to write. Have a beautiful Christmas, Jim.
