Two entrances are fairly common on old churches, presumably one for women and the other for men. I know that to be fact for Shaker meeting houses, but it seems to be true for others. The descriptions of old Methodist churches frequently refer to separate entrances for men and women. Perhaps someone has a more definitive answer. Jim
