The last trip

He started work with the railroad when he was nineteen years old and he's never wanted any other job. When passenger service ended, he went with his beloved train to the railroad museum, to run tourists through the mountains on weekends. Now they tell him he's too old to continue. What will he do? It's not that he needs the money; he's has enough to live. But how? He has no family. He has no hobbies. The railroad is his life. The railroad is his family. What now?

  1. This is a sad thing to read about. People still live viable, productive lives in their old age! Makes me want to get on my soapbox!

  2. What now indeed?
There must be a way for him to go on enjoying the railroad. Where there's a will there's a way.

    Tell us what happens?

  3. Too sad. Perhaps a volunteer position in a RR museum?
